Phylogeographic patterns ofDeschampsia cespitosa(Poaceae) in Europe inferred from genomic data

چکیده

Abstract The highly variable tufted hairgrass Deschampsia cespitosa is a tussock-forming plant especially of cool and humid environments. Although common widespread, its phylogeographic structure the significance polyploidy for evolution are poorly understood. Here we used phylogenomic approach to study genetic this species in Europe how polyploid cytotypes/subspecies related diploids. Using genomic data (RADseq whole plastid sequencing) found divergent Iberian group, including Spanish subsp. (diploid tetraploid) Macaronesian island endemic diploid argentea. Moreover, substantial divergence pseudoviviparous tetraploids (Deschampsia subspp. neoalpina rhenana) from seminiferous (except littoralis) all diploids remaining European samples. (D. tetraploid D. littoralis probably represent periglacial relict lineages unknown origin regarding auto- and/or allo-polyploidy, whereas other variants always nested cespitosa, suggesting multiple autopolyploid origins. An analysis after excluding Group revealed five groups with overlapping geographical patterns. However, recovered structure, overall low diffuse point recolonization various refugial areas secondary contact. Effective wind dispersal pollen seeds an open early post-glacial tundra landscape and, finally, increasing human impact on grass since Neolithic, may have enhanced admixture resulted complex patterns detected today.

Molecular phylogeny of the family Araceae as inferred from the nuclear ribosomal ITS data

The internal transcribed spacer regions of nuclear ribosomal DNA are widely used to infer phylogenetic relationships in plants. In this study, it was obtained the ITS sequences from 24 samples of Araceae in Iran, representing 3 genera: Arum L., Biarum Schott. and Eminium (Blume) Schott. Phylogenetic analyses were conducted by Bayesian inference and maximum Parsimony methods. Cladistic analysis ...

Phylogeographic patterns in widespread corvid birds.

Intraspecific genetic diversity and phylogeography of Corvus corone was investigated using the mitochondrial (mt) control region as a molecular marker. A split into two distinct mt lineages was observed. One represents individuals from a wide geographic range spanning from England to the Russian Far East (Kamchatka), while the other one was found in the Primorye and Khabarovsk regions (southern...

Genomic heterogeneity of historical gene flow between two species of newts inferred from transcriptome data

The role of gene flow in species formation is a major unresolved issue in speciation biology. Progress in this area requires information on the long-term patterns of gene flow between diverging species. Here, we used thousands of single-nucleotide polymorphisms derived from transcriptome resequencing and a method modeling the joint frequency spectrum of these polymorphisms to reconstruct patter...

Impact of the Partitioning Scheme on Divergence Times Inferred from Mammalian Genomic Data Sets

Data partitioning has long been regarded as an important parameter for phylogenetic inference. The division of heterogeneous multigene data sets into partitions with similar substitution patterns is known to increase the performance of probabilistic phylogenetic methods. However, the effect of the partitioning scheme on divergence time estimates has generally been ignored. To investigate the im...
